Moore's husband Jonathan Irons was convicted of a burglary and shooting in 2007
Moore met Irons at her Missouri godparents. She also met her great-uncle, who introduced them the rest of their family. Irons, then 16, was convicted of burglary and shooting in the house of a white male. Stanley Stotler recognized Irons and convicted him. He was convicted by the jury and sent to prison.
Moore proposed a proposal to Irons the night that he was freed
Moore proposed Irons to him on the same night that a judge overturned Irons’ conviction for aggravated attacking. Irons was convicted of aggravated assault. The judge overturned his conviction citing issues with the investigation. They are now engaged and will start a foundation to assist wrongfully convicted people. Moore will return to basketball in spring.

Maya Moore has just revealed the birth of her first child with husband Jonathan Irons. The baby boy was birthed in February 2022. Following Jonathan's release from prison, they were married in 2020. It is unclear if the couple are still together. Jonathan and Maya were in prison together, where they formed a close friendship.
