In 2018, the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team achieved an amazing milestone: its 500th victory. This victory was the culmination a season of undefeated play for the team. This team is one of the most respected in the world and has been playing for 33 consecutive years.

One of the most memorable moments in the tournament was the late equalizer by the U.S. women’s soccer team. Abby Wambach's goal was decisive and pinpoint, even though it wasn't the winning goal. This goal will remain a highlight in the history US women's soccer.

Morgan's future as a star player

Alex Morgan is a young player in the US women’s soccer league. She scored 15 goals this season in 16 NWSL games. This summer, she will lead the U.S. team to the Concacaf tournament in Mexico. In Cancun, Mexico, in 2010, the US was last represented at this tournament. Morgan helped the Americans win a gold medal at FIFA Women's World Cup 2011 despite losing to Mexico in the semifinals. She was also the winner against Canada in the 2012 London Olympics.

Rapinoe's suit against the U.S. soccer Federation

Five members representing the USWNT filed suit against the U.S. soccer organization in April 2016. They sought equal pay for the exact same work. They alleged that they had been treated unfairly based on gender. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission was notified. A federal judge sided strongly with the Federation in May 2020, dismissing the vast majority of players' unpaid wages. On appeal, the women filed an opening brief in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.


Dunn's inaugural Olympics

Dunn's inclusion on the U.S. women's soccer team was widely anticipated and celebrated in her hometown of Rockville Centre, Maryland, earlier this month. It was a symbolic end to her World Cup absence and the beginning of a new chapter of her soccer career.

Rapinoe's 3rd Olympics

Megan Rapinoe serves as a forward on the United States national soccer team. She was part of the first World Cup in 2009 when she returned to the USA. In 2011, Rapinoe sent the ball to teammate Abby Wambach, who scored just before the game was over. She was part of the Olympic team in 2012 and helped them win bronze in London.

Team USA's performance during Tokyo

Team USA's performance in the Summer Games has been largely positive. The Tokyo Olympic Basketball Team won gold. The women’s volleyball squad claimed their first Olympic Gold. Additionally, the women’s 4x400m relay team earned their first-ever gold. Allyson Finch has now won 11 medals in her career, while the U.S. women’s track & field team won indoor volleyball's first gold.
