The National Women's Soccer League, a professional American women's soccer league, is located in the United States. The league is owned by the teams and is managed by the United States Soccer Federation. It was under a management contract with the United States Soccer Federation until 2020. The NWSL in the United States is a women's league of soccer. The season runs from February through October and the Challenge Cup takes place between March and May. Each team plays 22 regular season games, and the best team in the league is awarded the NWSL Shield. There are playoffs and six of the top six teams reach the championship final. The lower-seeded sides play single knockout matches in round one, while the top-seeded side hosts single knockout match. The champions will advance to the championship match, which will be played at a predetermined location.
Although there are rumors of expansion in the future, nothing concrete has yet been announced. The league will continue as it is and there won't be any expansion. Real Salt Lake and Indy Eleven both expressed interest in joining, along with three men's teams out of California. Although the league is open to new teams for 2016, no expansion plans were made.

Sheryl Cron and Anthony LaPaglia were also present at the Players Association's exhibition with young soccer players from the University of Nevada. The Players Association hosted a benefit concert to support the players.
