Alyssa Mauutz announced her retirement from NWSL on Tuesday. The Chicago Red Stars' midfielder, who had been with the team since 2003, announced her retirement before Wednesday's game. The move is expected to create a void in the league, which has struggled with transfer activity in recent seasons. Alyssa Mautz, the league's top goal scorer, had 16 goals and eight assists over her 10-year tenure.
