One of the most memorable moments in the tournament was the late equalizer by the U.S. women’s soccer team. While it wasn't the game-winning goal, Abby Wambach's header was pinpoint and clutch. This goal will be a landmark in American women's soccer history.

Morgan's future is as a star player
Alex Morgan is a top young player in the US women’s football league. This season, she has scored 15 goals in 16 NWSL matches. This summer, she will lead the U.S. team to the Concacaf tournament in Mexico. The US had not participated in this tournament since 2010 in Cancun. While the team lost to Mexico in the semifinals, Morgan helped the Americans win the gold medal at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup. Morgan also scored the winning goal against Canada at the 2012 London Olympics.
Rapinoe's suit against the U.S. soccer Federation
Five members of USWNT filed a lawsuit in April 2016 against the U.S. soccer association seeking equal pay for their work. They claimed they had been unfairly treated due to their gender. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission was informed and the complaint was filed. A federal judge sided in favor of the federation and dismissed most of the unpaid claims. On appeal, the women filed an opening brief in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Dunn's debut Olympics
Dunn was widely anticipated and celebrated earlier in the month in Rockville Centre. It marked the end of her World Cup absence, and her start to a new chapter in her soccer career.
Rapinoe's 3rd Olympics
Megan Rapinoe is a forward for the United States national team. In 2009, she was part the team's first World Cup. Rapinoe handed the ball to Abby Wambach, her teammate, in 2011 just before the match was over. She was part the Olympic team, and contributed to their gold medal win in London 2012.

Team USA's Tokyo performance
Team USA's performance at the Summer Games is largely positive. The Tokyo Olympics saw the men's basketball team win gold. The women's volleyball team took home their first Olympic gold. And the 4x400 relay team of women won their first ever gold. Allyson Felix has now won 11 career medals, and the U.S. women’s track and field team won its first indoor volleyball gold.
