The LPGA has hosted numerous tournaments since its founding in 1949. Among them, the Women’s PGA Championship is, the Women’s British Open, the Women’s Australian Open, and the Women’s PGA Championship are all held at the LPGA. Today, the Women's PGA Championship is the second-oldest of the five majors.

Carlton Woods hosts lpga’s newest major

The Chevron championship is the LPGA’s new major tournament. The tournament will be played at The Club of Carlton Woods Jack Nicklaus Signature Course. It is part of a five year agreement and will be televised live by NBC Sports.

The course was open for play since 2001. It is famous for its undulating greens that are protected by bunkers. It hosted U.S. Will Zalatoris won the Junior Amateur. It hosted the qualifying rounds to the U.S. Open, and LPGA Tour events. It also hosted the final edition of the LPGA Tour's Mission Hills tournament in Rancho Miro, California, where Jennifer Kupcho took a final leap into Poppie's Pond for the win.

Carlton Woods has a strong junior golf programme

Carlton Woods is renowned for its strong junior golf program. In the past, Tiger Woods and Rickie fowler participated in the HP Boys Championship. The invitation-only event raises funds for junior golf clubs. In the past three years, the HP Boys Championship has donated over $44,000 to local schools, charities, and an AJGA ACE Grant. Last year, AJGA presented awards for media coverage and charitable donations.

Carlton Woods is a top-tier golf resort and the host of the 2014 U.S. Junior Amateur. This championship will take place at the Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course at the club. It has deep bunkering, water hazards and contoured holes. It is also a certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. The certification has been renewed every year since 2003. The club's junior golf program has been a popular attraction for aspiring junior golfers and amateurs.

Louise Suggs founded the LPGA

Louise Suggs founded the LPGA, a tour for women that competes in golf's major championships. Suggs and her partners were instrumental in the establishment of the LPGA, including setting rules and organizing tournaments. They promoted teaching clinics and also established and promoted them.


Suggs hosted a 72-hole competition in West Palm Beach, Florida in the 1960s. Suggs competed against other LPGA/PGA professionals in this tournament.

Since 1955 when the event was first held, it has not missed one year. In fact, 11 of those years were played at Wilmington’s DuPont Golf Club. McDonald's was the official title sponsor in 1994.

Gary Player: A four-time major champion, Gary Player won his first major, the Open Championship, at the age of 26. He completed his career with nine major titles, and the grand total in six years. In addition to his major championships, Player won four consecutive PGA Championships, including the U.S. Open in 1965. He finished in the top five at both the Masters and U.S Open and won the Masters in 1980.
