Jennifer Kupcho wins Meijer LPGA Classic
Jennifer Kupcho's win at the Meijer LPGA Classic is a great win for the tournament's charity partner, Simply Give. The winner was not able to make a birdie on the first holes, which she missed by two feet. However, she made up for it with birdies on both the back and ninth holes to win. Kupcho's win is her second LPGA major title.
After a double bogey at the third hole, Kupcho was three strokes behind overnight leader. After her third shot went into the wrong rough, Kupcho recovered and made birdie on the par-5 eighth. On the final day, Kupcho shot a 71 and made a birdie on the par-five eighth hole. Maguire shot a 65, and made a birdie of the 18th hole to set a clubhouse-record of 18 under.
Nelly Korda to defend title
Nelly Korda will defend her Meijer LPGA Classic title. It boasts one the best fields in the women’s LPGA circuit. The tournament has a $2.5 million purse and nine of top ten Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings. The winner will receive $375,000 for her efforts.
After a slow start this week, Korda showed some improvement. She was 18-under 198 when she putted a 22 foot eagle putt on her last hole. Her performance at the Meijer LPGA Classic was impressive considering she returned to the tour after a four-month injury. But she will have to compete against Jennifer Kupcho, who is coming off her first LPGA Tour win.
