Although women are often overlooked in running, a few have made a name for themselves. Rita Jeptoo was one of these women, winning the Boston and Chicago marathons back to back in 2013 and 2014. She was later banned from competing for four years for using EPO. Agnes Jebet Tirop, a teenager, succeeded Chebet in the 2015 IAAF World Cross.

Keira D'Amato

Keira D'Amato is a well-known female runner with an extraordinary story. She is an athlete living a busy life with a full-time Real Estate job and running as a side-gig. Keira set a new American marathon time record in 2017. She beat Deena Kasstor's mark of 24 seconds. Keira, at just 37 years of age, is already a well known athlete. However she started out as an avid jogger. Keira D’Amato, a graduate of American University, entered Real Estate and had two children. She competed in 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials.

Paula Jane Radcliffe

Famous female runner Paula Jane Radcliff has achieved international success in the long-distance running events. She is a three-time champion of the London Marathon and the New York Marathon and was the 2002 Chicago Marathon winner. She has also won many other events.

Helene de Pourtales

Helene de Pourtales is the famed female runner from the 1900 Olympics. She was born in New York. She was the daughter in a wealthy tobacco family. Isaac Barbey her father founded the tobacco empire and Helene's mother is a Lolliard hailing from France. Helene was a natural runner and soon married Hermann Alexandre de Pourtales. The couple had three girls. Helene was a descendant of her maternal grandmother, who inherited her passion for horses.


Allison Stokke

Allison Stokke is a well-known female pole vaulter, runner, and athlete. She was born in Newport Beach, California and is of white ethnicity. After graduating from Newport Harbor High School, she continued her education at the University of California. Stokke won many records in pole vaulting and other sports while at both schools. Stokke is also an advocate for healthy foods, and encourages others in her footsteps.

Tia-Clair Toomey

Tia Claire Toomey, the famous female runner has been one of America's most successful athletes over the past year. She is the face in female fitness. Her results speak louder than her words every time she competes. She won 2022 NOBULL CrossFit Games. Toomey was able to overcome a difficult start and lead the competition through the end.

Allison Baver

Allison Baver, a former U.S. Olympian in competitive running, announced her retirement on Monday. She was an Olympian twice, the first time in 2002 when she participated as an alternate on the U.S. women’s relay team of 3000m in Salt Lake City. In addition, Allison has competed in the 2006 Torino Winter Games and the 2010 Vancouver Winter Games, where she finished third in the 3000m relay. Allison suffered a tragic injury in 2009 when she fractured her right ankle and leg in a crash with a teammate. This injury happened just one year before Allison was due to compete in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
