Becky Sauerbrunn will co-captain this summer's United States women’s soccer squad in France. USA wants to repeat 2015's World Cup win. During the 2015 World Cup, she played every minute for the team in the center back position. At a young age she was an exceptional player and is now cocaptaining team.

The Americans are a more experienced team but there are still many new players in the squad. Although Sauerbrunn made a critical mistake in the 1-0 victory over Spain, she has learned from it. After the game, Sauerbrunn acknowledged her error and was glad that her team advanced to the next round.

Megan Renard's prolific goalscoring record

Megan Renard's exemplary record as a world cup goalscorer makes her a possible contender for this year's Best FIFA Women's Player prize. Renard, 30, is France's most decorated footballer. She has won a record fourteen French League titles and seven European Cups. In addition, she has scored over 100 goals for Lyon and 28 for the national team. Renard is a strong candidate for the award, even though she has only participated in four matches for France. France was guaranteed a spot in the tournament thanks to Renard's early head in a UEFA Euro 2022 qualifier match against Austria.

Renard also has scored in four of five World Cups in the past, which is the best record in the tournament. She's a skilled attacker whose prolific goalscoring record reflects her skill. She is a skilled striker who has a strong left foot and can score from distance.

USA Sues United States Soccer Federation

The U.S. Soccer Federation is facing major criticism for its stance in the pay dispute between the men and women's soccer teams. Many supporters and sponsors have been disillusioned by the federation's decision not to hire lobbyists to fight the suit against women's soccer. The women's team took a similar approach and used social media followings as a weapon to diffuse uncomfortable exchanges in court.

A lawsuit filed against USSF provoked outrage in the soccer world when it claimed that the federation was discriminatory and sexism. Due to backlash, Carlos Cordeiro was forced to resign as president of the USSF in March 2020. Cordeiro was replaced as president by Cone. Cordeiro is still an active member of the USSF board, but he is running again for president.
