Annika Sorenstam's retirement

In 2003, she accepted an invitation to play in the Colonial tournament on the PGA Tour. She became the first women to play in a PGA Tour competition since 1945. She has also won seven U.S. Women's Open tournaments and the Vare Trophy.

After a seven year absence, Annika Sorenstam, the world's top female golfer, is now back in competitive golf. Kingsmill is not in the 2022 schedule
The Kingsmill Resort will not be included on the 2022 LPGA Tour schedule. LPGA events have been hosted on the James River course at Kingsmill since 2003. The event was originally scheduled for 2021, but was canceled after Pure Silk withdrew from the deal at the end of the year. It is unclear what the future holds for the James River course. Kingsmill is looking for a new title sponsor at the moment.
The first major for women will be held at the Congressional Country Club
Bethesda's Congressional Country Club will be the host for the 68th KPMG Women's PGA Championship, the first women's major in nearly a decade. The tournament's centerpiece will be the newly renovated Blue Course. Practice rounds begin Wednesday. The Americans will start the tournament on Wednesday morning.
